My career in joinery began when in 1986 I
began working with a local cabinet-maker. All work there was produced by hand,
giving me a valuable grounding in the skills and knowledge of woodwork. From
1989 through the early 1990s, these skills were further consolidated as I
served my apprenticeship with Herbert Read Limited, famous for their
ecclesiastical joinery and conservation work. I worked on many important
projects with Herbert Read Ltd in the UK and overseas until 1996, when I left to set up my own
workshop in my home town of Dulverton.
Since then, I have worked on a wide variety of
projects, ranging from kitchens, furnishings and exterior woodwork for local
homes and businesses to high-profile ecclesiastical projects across the UK and
also in New York, many of which are illustrated in the pictures on this website.
A number of these projects have seen me working with a local consultant in
conservation joinery and colleagues who are woodcarvers and painters, meaning
that I have the necessary contacts to meet complex requirements. During the
last couple of years, much of my work has been carried out locally, with a particular emphasis on high-quality handmade kitchens.

you have a project that you would like to talk to me about.
